| Dragon Ball Universe 93 GaidenSpinoff #1: Turtle SchoolChapter 1- "Boiling Bloodline":
TIME PLACEMENT: 3 weeks after Chapter 10 of Dragon Ball Universe 93
Several weeks have passed ever since Jaduko found his way to Kame Island, the home of the Turtle Hermit and former martial arts teacher of Rukiro. Master Krillin and the rest of the Turtle School had taken Jaduko in and had given him a place to sleep, food to eat, and overall a place to recover from the horror he witnessed during Rukiro's death. One night however, while Jaduko was resting in his bed, Master Krillin stumbled upon a small backpack that Jaduko had brought with him on his journey, one of the pockets was bulging out as if there were spherical objects inside it and it were about to rip from the pressure. Walking over towards it, Krillin opened up the pocket and reluctantly caught the four Dragon Balls that the young Saiyan boy had brought with him. They were the 7, 3, 6, and 2 Star Dragon Balls. Had he and Rukiro really found over half of the world's Dragon Balls?
'I wonder what they were planning on using them to wish for..' Krillin thought, he knew he shouldn't have been snooping in Jaduko's things, but it was a good thing he found them. 'Perhaps they were planning on keeping the balls safe? Or was Rukiro wanting to revive his parents...?' Krillin solemnly shook his head at the thought of Rukiro and Jaduko's deceased parents.
"What are those, Master?" A voice called out from behind Krillin, causing the old man to stumble and drop the balls. Turning his head, Krillin saw Klio standing next to Lori and the two had their arms crossed in the doorway of the dark room. Light leaked into the room from the hallway.
"T-They're nothing." Master Krillin replied as he picked up the Dragon Balls. "Why are you here, aren't you two supposed to be in bed?"
"It's 9 o'clock, Master Krillin." Lori replied. "Lizz is putting Taisuka to bed and the only other one asleep is that kid who showed up here. Konno is out on the beach practicing."
"That boy stresses himself too much." Krillin retorted, shoving the Dragon Balls into his shirt, he needed to find a safe place to keep them for Jaduko.
"There's something about those balls you're hiding." Klio seemed displeased. "Lori and I are your most trusted students, you can tell us what the matter is."
"I figure the two of you had never seen a Dragon Ball before, had you?" Krillin sighed, he held out the 7 Star Ball to the two students and they stared at it in awe and confusion. "See these red stars on it? If you gather all 7 of the Dragon Balls and place them in a corresponding order, a mystical dragon named Shenron emerges and can grant you a wish of almost anything you want."
"Really? That's amazing!" Lori studied the ball, she wasn't a big believer in mystical or magical related things, she was a person of science and reality.
"Why did the kid have them then?" Klio questioned.
"Jaduko, is that boy's name." Krillin scoffed. "He and his brother Rukiro already knew of the Dragon Balls, Rukiro did at least.. He must have had Jaduko collecting them for him so he could keep them safe, or so they could revive their parents."
"So the kid brought them with so he could try and find the rest, to revive his brother from the dead? I assume that's a wish capable of granting?" Klio scratched his chin and Krillin nodded.
"I'm unaware of how much Jaduko knows of the Dragon Balls or if he just brought them along and forgot about them.. I'm not sure how much Rukiro taught him of his heritage or if he taught him any formal form of martial arts other than self defense." Krillin thought. "Lori, take these Dragon Balls and place them in room next to the bathroom, I have a special glass case in there that could hold all 7, we are going to keep them safe there until we decide to use them."
Lori nodded and grabbed the Dragon Balls, she exited the room and Klio stared at his teacher.
"So what are you going to do?" Klio asked.
"First thing in the morning, Jaduko has had enough rest over the past three weeks, 18 and I will teach him the way of the Turtle School, and he will become one of you." Krillin glared into Klio's eyes, who had a slight smirk.
The next day, Jaduko was woken up fairly early and was given a fresh set of bright orange gi with a black inner shirt, black belt, and black boots to match his Turtle School comrades. On the front of the gi, the Turtle School emblem was placed over the heart, Jaduko was glad to have his very own version of the uniform, but his excitement didn't last long.
"Jaduko!" Master Krillin called out in front of the Saiyan boy, causing him to look. The wind blew through his brunette hair and swooshed it off towards the side moreso than it already was.
"Yes, master?" Jaduko stood at attention.
"Today, your training as a turtle begins! Are you ready to begin?" Krillin was standing several yards in front of Jaduko, and 18 was at her husband's side wearing a bright orange martial arts uniform to match Krillin. Jaduko nodded.
The three were standing on the beach as the ocean waves rushed against their feet. Konno let out a groan as he sat on the porch because all he wanted to do was train, not watch this kid get his ass kicked by an old guy. Klio and Lori were sitting next to him and Lizz was standing up behind them with a baby Taisuka in her arms.
"Show me what your brother has taught you, come at me!" Krillin motioned for 18 to step back and instead of getting in a fighting position, Krillin tightened his grasp on the wooden cane he was holding.
"Here I come! HIYAGH!" Jaduko let out a shout as he burst from the sand within an instant, he clenched his fist and thrust it forward towards Krillin's face. The old man blocked with his cane and pushed Jaduko backwards, causing the boy to stumble and fall back onto his butt.
"I see that Rukiro has taught you how to harness your ki and has taught you how to use your skill of flight in combat rather than travel." Krillin was analyzing Jaduko's performace as the Saiyan pushed himself up to his feet. Gritting his teeth, Jaduko was getting frustrated and rushed his master once again, but instead of throwing a straight on punch, he planted his foot on the sand and pushed towards the left. He tried to kick Krillin in the stomach but the old geezer spun and the purple turtle shell on his back blocked the kick, causing Jaduko to spin in the air. Continuing his spin, Krillin whacked his cane into Jaduko's back and sent the little boy flying into the ocean waters.
"What a chump!" Konno laughed to the point that he was about to cry, Lori slapped him on the back.
"You're making fun of a kid." Lori angrily replied.
"A Saiyan Kid. Haha!" Konno continued to laugh. "I thought they were supposed to be strong."
Lifting himself out of the ocean waters, Jaduko grit his teeth and glared at Konno, who glared back. Hearing the term 'Saiyan' had triggered something in Jaduko, he remembered Rukiro lying about the Saiyans being heroes and good people, but he first hand witnessed that it was a lie all along. Saiyans were cold hearted killers who stole his family from him, he began to huff as he crawled out of the water.
"You're clouding your mind with hatred of your own kind." Krillin spoke as Jaduko crawled onto the sandy beach, water dripping from his hair and gi.
"I'm not one of them... those monsters.." Jaduko spoke through pants as he coughed up water.
"You may think that now, but you will soon realize that being a Saiyan has it's perks." 18 called out from several yards away, her arms were crossed.
"How? You aren't one of them so how do you know?" Jaduko coughed.
"Friends of Krillin and friends of my own were also Saiyans. We saw how this planet changed them." 18 retorted, walking over to stand next to Krillin.
"You are correct Jaduko, the Saiyans that you know are cold hearted and don't have any morals aside from destruction." Krillin replied, the students sitting on the porch listened in.
"But the Saiyans we know, the Saiyans we knew on this very planet, they were changed by it." 18 continued.
"They had families, friends, they had a purpose on this planet and because of these very things, they were able to become stronger. They had a reason to fight and they had a reason to get to the places that they needed to be." Krillin kneeled down and looked at Jaduko, who stopped coughing. "Just because some Saiyans are evil, doesn't mean all of them are. You aren't an evil Saiyan, Jaduko, and that makes you special. You have a gift to do better things, and the type of person you are allows you to do greater than I, 18, or anyone on this planet could do. You need to respect that and honor the friends you've made in the past few weeks and the family you will have when you're my age."
Jaduko softly nodded and Krillin leaned back up. The old man saw something in Jaduko's eyes that he hadn't seen in a long time. They were the eyes of hostility nor did it look like they wanted to hurt him. These were the eyes of a pure hearted Saiyan who realized his purpose, who realized he wasn't like the rest. These were the eyes of someone who wanted to fight and get strong, because they now had a goal.
"What is your goal?" Krillin spoke up, causing Jaduko to lift his head.
"I will get stronger... for myself and for Rukiro!" The Saiyan boy clenched his fist and slammed it down onto the wet sand below. With a smile on his face, Jaduko leaped from the ground and threw a fist at Krillin's face with incredible speed, but at the same time he spun in the air and thrust a kick towards 18's stomach.
Both being surprised by the attack, Krillin blocked the fist with his hand and 18 blocked the kick with her forearm. The two grit their teeth and flipped Jaduko up in the air, sending him flying back onto the grass in front of the house.
"You still have much to learn, and luckily, 18 and I have a lot to teach you." Krillin laughed and looked at the Saiyan boy. "Your training to become a martial artist begins here."
Jaduko lifted himself up and gave a wide grin as the students back on the porch watched the whole thing. Lizz smiled and Lori did as well, Klio gave a smirk but Konno had a frown on his face. He glared at the young Saiyan boy.
Chapter 2- "The Turtle Destruction Wave":
TIME PLACEMENT: 10 Months after Chapter 10 of Dragon Ball Universe 93
Several months would pass after Jaduko's first attempt at formal fighting. He and Master Krillin would spend day after day perfecting the young Saiyan boy's technique and form in the art of martial arts. As Jaduko himself grew as a fighter, he would begin learning some of the other student's ways of combat and how they handle things around Kame House. For example, Klio would occasionally test Jaduko on his wit in combat, stating that outsmarting his opponent is sometimes better than besting them in strength or in technique. However the two of them never really hit it off and Klio often gave Jaduko the cold shoulder for not being a good student. Jaduko learned the most from Master Krillin and Klio, however other members of the school such as 18 and Lori would help him improve his determination by sending him off to deliver milk, a common Turtle School tradition, or to get groceries and bring them back within a certain amount of time. He would also help others such as Lizz and Marron around the house with dishes and decorating for holidays to create a bond between him and the rest of the school.
Everyone benefited from Jaduko joining the Turtle School with the exception of Taisuka who was still a toddler at the time, and Konno Kureno. Konno, rather than wasting his time training Jaduko, would spend time increasing his own technique. He in particular had been spending months on end perfecting the Kamehameha Wave taught to him by Master Krillin. He was the only member of the school aside from Krillin that had been able to use it consistently on top of come close to mastering it, even Klio had issues learning the wave.
One day however, as Konno was firing Kamehameha Wave after Kamehameha Wave into the ocean, with the sea splitting between the beam to allow it to pass, he was interrupted during his training by one of the few members of the school he had a bond with aside from Klio.
"Konno, are you sure you're not wanting to come inside and eat lunch?" A female voice called out behind Konno, who stopped firing his beam and let his hands hover in the air as water dropped from the sky around him and fell back into the ocean. He huffed and turned around. Lori was standing behind him with her beautiful black hair softly blowing in the wind, the water falling from the sky illuminated her face and Konno turned his body around.
"Yeah I'm fine, I'll eat later." Konno retorted.
"You've been firing Kamehameha Waves at the ocean nonstop for the past 4 days now." Lori crossed her arms. "Master Krillin said that it's your way of releasing anger and stress, but I don't know why you'd be stressed.. not when I make your lunch and that's the only thing you need to worry about."
"You sound concerned." Konno chuckled with a smirk, he turned back around and held his arms at his side. "Want to join me? We can make it a Kamehameha Date."
"I'd love to, but I have responsibilities around here." Lori watched as a blue orb of light formed in Konno's hands. "You should get a responsibility too, it whips people like us into shape." She watched as he thrust his arms forward with a shout and a large blue beam blasted towards the horizon.
"I'm 9 and you're 10, Lori. What's the point in responsibility when we live out here?" Konno remarked as soon as the beam had disappeared.
"You may think that firing the Kamehameha over and over makes you look cute, which I'm not saying it doesn't.." Lori blushed. "But we're going to be adults sooner or later."
"Yeah in a long time." Konno rolled his eyes. "Besides everything is taken care of out here. I don't have any family so my only duty is to fire these all day long." Lori lowered her head and always felt saddened when Konno brought up him not having a family.
Jaduko, who was watching the whole event play out from the window, immediately rushed out of the front door of Kame House and sprinted down to the sandy shore next to Lori and behind Konno. He panted but before he could say anything, Lori continued to speak.
"Say, why don't you teach Jaduko the Kamehameha? Afterwards the two of you can get something to eat." She bargained. Konno tightened his eyes and glared out into the horizon before slowly turning around to face Lori and Jaduko.
"Why in the hell would I waste my time teaching him when I can't even master the technique myself." Konno peered into Lori's eyes menacingly but Lori wasn't having any of it. She slyly peered back into Konno's eyes and patted Jaduko on the back.
"Please Konno? I promise I won't bother you once you teach me how to do the move!" Jaduko had a wide grin on his face, causing Konno to grimace.
"I'll leave you two alone. Come in for lunch when you're done." Lori winked and turned her back. She began walking towards the house, leaving the two orange gi wearing Turtle School students together.
All was silent between the two, Konno glared down at Jaduko, who beamed back up. The wind softly blew through Konno's black hair and rustled the red hair along the back of his neck.
"So, how do we start?" Jaduko seemed oblivious to the cold stare that Konno was giving him.
"Just because the others have accepted you here doesn't mean you can waltz in and ruin my own training." Konno muttered. "I'm not even sure if you've mastered ki control yet."
"Are you afraid I'll do the technique better than you?" Jaduko crossed his arms, he was getting impatient.
Konno widened his eyes, the kid had an attitude afterall. Normally Konno would lash out at someone who talked back to him, but he figured this would be different. His cold stare turned into a sly smile and he turned around, motioning for Jaduko to stand next to him.
"If you think you're so good at this kind of thing. Follow what I do." Konno instructed, Jaduko nodded and the two looked out into the horizon as the ocean water rose and sunk. Konno slightly laughed, waiting for Jaduko to humiliate himself.
"First, you put your hands together like this." Konno placed the bottom of his palms together and slowly moved them down towards the side of his body, his body shifted in the sand like a smooth breeze alongside it. Jaduko mirrored the movements perfectly.
"Then what?" Jaduko questioned.
"Concentrate your energy into the area between your palms, try it." Konno muttered, a blue orb formed in his hands and Jaduko struggled to do the same, a spark of blue light emanated from his hands but nothing formed.
"Now thrust your hands forward once you have a sizable amount of energy, and it should explode with all of your focus leaving your body like a bullet from a gun. KAMEHAMEHA!" Konno shouted as he thrust his arms forward, Jaduko did the same but nothing happened, he watched as a massive beam of blue light shot out from Konno's hands over the top of the ocean. The power from the beam blew Jaduko's hair back and rapidly whipped it back and form, he let out a grin as he noticed Konno's black and red hair doing the same. This was the first time he stood close enough to a Kamehameha and felt like he had fired it, he had to master it one day.
"This is just like a dream I had a while back!" Jaduko shouted, but Konno was unable to hear him. Jaduko looked up at Konno and chuckled as the beam disappeared. Konno lowered his arms and stared down at the Saiyan boy.
"What's so funny?" Konno questioned, crossing his arms.
"I never thought you'd be a good teacher, I'll try to do this until I can fire a Kamehameha just like you!" Jaduko seemed impressed, causing Konno to raise an eyebrow.
"Good luck kid, I'll be inside eating. Don't want my food to get cold." Konno watched as Jaduko reenacted the Kamehameha form and nothing but a few blue sparks fired from his hands.
Watching from the window, Lori smiled as Konno turned his back on Jaduko and began walking towards the house, she had already heated Konno's food back up and had it sitting next to her.
'He actually took the time to talk to someone, and even teach them.' Lori chuckled and watched Konno walk inside of the house, she watched Jaduko do the Kamehameha form over and over.
Hours passed and the moon was finally up in the sky and everyone in the Turtle School was fast asleep inside of the house. Jaduko however continuously tried to fire the Kamehameha into the ocean just like Konno had, but unfortunately, the farthest he had done was fire a few sparks into the air.
"What am I doing wrong?" Jaduko grit his teeth in anger and slumped down onto the ground.
Peering up into the sky, Jaduko saw the moon and the stars, he let out a sigh and began to think of Rukiro, who had been dead for 10 months now.
"If Rukiro were here, he would be able to teach me the Kamehameha, not just leave me to do it alone.." Jaduko sighed and watched the water brush against the sea shore.
"You're not concentrating your energy as much as you should be." A voice called out from behind Jaduko, causing the boy to turn around. "Rukiro probably could teach you better than I could, but I've probably fired off more Kamehameha's than he, your father, or Master Krillin ever did." Konno was there, and he was acting cocky as he smiled.
"I doubt it." Jaduko turned his head back towards the ocean.
"Lori talked to me about responsibilities and today she gave me a talk during lunch about how I'm supposed to be teaching you until you can finally do the Kamehameha." Konno continued, he walked over to Jaduko and motioned for him to stand up, Jaduko got to his feet.
"So what does that mean?" Jaduko questioned.
"Truth is, it's been lonely firing Kamehameha after Kamehameha all by myself." Konno crossed his arms and stared out into the distance. "You're the only one that has been able to even make blue sparks, the others have nothing happen at all." Konno peered down at Jaduko and had a smirk on his face.
"So I'm doing good?" Jaduko lightened up.
"A little, but you still have a lot to master with ki control and focusing your energy in one spot." Konno motioned for Jaduko to follow him to the edge of the shore. "C'mon, let's get started."
With a smile, Jaduko followed Konno and the two, albeit still shady with one another, slowly began to bond. Konno would teach Jaduko the Kamehameha form farther than he already had, now all that remains was the young boy firing the beam.
Jaduko eventually would fire a Kamehameha several months later much to Master Krillin's surprise and the surprise of the rest of the Turtle School. Most of all however, Jaduko would be proud of himself, alongside Konno who was proud of teaching it to someone.
Now, the two Turtle School students had to master the technique together, and their friendship would begin to grow. However it would be years until the two set aside their differences and truly became friends..
