| Match four of day one had ended with a ring out. The Turtle School made their way out of the stands towards the entrance of the arena, it was time for them to head back to Kame House until Lizz's next match. Lori stopped in front of the bracket board at the entrance and noticed Lizz's name advance past the first round, she made it to round two.
"Not much of an effort she put in." A voice said next to Lori. Lori turned her head and looked up to see a man wearing the Crane School uniform, he had glasses on and had gray hair. "What a shame." He continued.
"Keep it to yourself, she did her best." Lori replied as she angrily turned around and left, following after her friends. The man smiled as he looked at the board.
"I remember when Turtles actually put up a fight and defended their comrades rather than yell angrily at their punching bags they call allies." he laughed as he walked away from the bracket.
Later that night, Lizz tossed and turned in her sleep. She was having a nightmare.
'Don't worry Lizz, fighting is just a sport.' A woman's voice called out to her. Lizz couldn't see anything except for a blinding light, the silhouette of a man appeared in front of her as her vision cleared. She saw her older sister, Yui, sitting in front of her, she had beautiful red hair just like her younger sister.
'If it's a sport, then why do you always come home with bruises and cuts?' A little girl's voice replied. Lizz looked around the room and saw a younger version of herself, she was crying. Her older sister pulled the younger Lizz in for a hug.
'Because it shows that I don't let my pain take over my dreams. I have to win for them to come true.' Yui replied softly.
The younger Lizz stopped crying. 'Then my dream is to become strong, like you!'
Tears formed in her older sister's eyes as Lizz's vision faded again, she saw a new change of scenery. Her younger self was sitting in front of a television watching a broadcast of the World Martial Arts Tournament.
'Daddy, Yui's match is almost on!' She heard the voice of her father.
'I'm comin', I'm comin'.' He said
Her vision faded for a quick second, she was now the younger version of herself, watching the television. Watching Yui fight was still as energetic as always, she loved watching Yui fight. Then it all went wrong. The match turned violent, she watched as her older sister was brutally beaten and strangled to death in the ring by a man twice her size. Lizz's smile turned upside down as she watched the one person that gave her hope, die on live television.
She always wanted to be strong and determined like her sister, but witnessing that strength and determination vanish the day she was killed, drained the innocence and free will from Lizz, developing her fear in fighting.
Lizz woke up in a flash, panting heavily in her sleep. The light flashed on in her room, she turned her head to see Klio sitting in a chair next to the light switch.
"Rough sleep?" He asked, concerned.
"Yeah." Lizz replied as she laid back down. "Don't worry about it." She added, as she turned and waited for Klio to leave.
Klio sighed and shut the light off. "Good work at the tournament today, I knew you could win." With that, he left the room. Tears formed in Lizz's eyes as she softly closed them.Continue Onto Chapter 15: https://readuniverse93online.forumotion.com/t85-vol-2-chapter-15-trials-and-tribulations | |
